 INBD 13 Aug...

I just got an assingment rip for the 733rd... after some hard research I don't think I want to or even can bring my Jeep...

I lived in mainland and wheeled a daihatsu for years and had a blast... so I am sure I can get something and have fun with it.

as long as I can go camping, fishing, and wheeling I will be good.

this is what I am giving up to PCS back to Japan...

does anyone around here work in the 733rd?

what's the deal with living off base.
my wife is Japanese (mainland) so I'm not too worried about it, but I heard that it was hard to get a place downtown.

so now to sell half my garage, two vehicles, and most of my winter clothes...

More Q's

So thinking about housing... is it wise to live on base, we have two boys (6 and 8) are they gonna try to stick us in a 2 bed room place.

or would it be smart to try to live downtown.

So I got the official notification... called housing, I have to live on base, but I should get a 3-bed room place.

I am leaning toward the mid 90's Toyota 4-door pick-ups.
I want a family camping 4x4 that I can wheel with also, and I like the idea of having a truck bed.

If I wanted to get some info for one of these trucks, what would I compare it to stateside...

i would buy a Daily driver and build something to wheel and pull it to where ever you go. Ya youll have to live on base first and move off later on.

I have lots of part to build a rig Laughing

I'd rather have a DD that can handle the trails...

Hell I live in the states and drive my Tj with 35's everyday.

one vehicle per licensed driver, and how hard is it to get and reg a trailer on oki. I know mainland it was nearly impossible.

I am flexible... but after some spring weather I remember how great it is to run topless!

my top pics...

FJ-40 or 45
Toy quad truck
older LC 4 door
older pajero

jimneys are too small
pref a 4-door

diesel would be awesome

I have been looking on Goo but I am still too far out.
plus most of the dealers add crazy fees on their used vehicles.

So I am selling my stock take-off parts from the TJ... all my good drivetrain parts went when I sold the CJ a few years ago.

I do plan to bring all my straps, high lift and other trail tools, so what ever I get will be trail ready

gonna bring my hitch rack and what ever universal stuff I have sitting around.

how hard is it to get tires... used M/T available at the parts off store like on mainland, or is it a waiting game from tirerack.

Housing / Schools / offbase living

I got my orders, scheduled TMO and we have plane tickets!

It was a long battle with med. but everything worked out in the end.

I talked to housing and they have houses on base. but we are still wanting a place downtown.

if we are downtown, can the kids go to school on base or are there international schools downtown.
